Morning Rain in Dallas
Morning rain in Dallas
Pre-dawn, humid, cold, gray
Distant rumble of delivery trucks
Siren in the far-off mists
No stars above
Pitted, age-worn, damp concrete
Rough beneath my cheek
The Earth heaves
Twists, turns, whirls through heaven
Carries me along
A speck of I in emptyness
No defiance, no love lost
So small a passenger
Almost thrown off the ride
