Gulls

    As we stand
    In its warm, white light;
    And the sea gulls
    Wing their silent flight;
    outlined by stars
    In the soft light;
    We sense the world
    We merge, we melt,
    And we become one
    In the moonlight.
    Our joy left us slowly,
    The moon left the sky;
    Leaving with us the memory
    Of a silent night's ride.

I wrote this in high school at 2:55 p.m., for an assignment that was due at 3:00 p.m. The teacher liked it so much she put it in the school's annual literary booklet. She was nuts, but this may constitute my first official publication.
