Someone once said there's no shame in committing poetry, as long as you do it in private and wash your hands afterward. I mean, yeah, it's goofy, and no one will ever read it, but it's hardly a felony. If you pay me lots of money, I promise to stop showing my poems to you.

Poetry Poetry comes in two major forms of drivel: rhyming and freeform. Rhyme includes stuff like Shakespeare's plays, which only incidentially and sometimes unfortunately contain rhyming couplets, various forms of assonance, true rhyme, clever bits like Lewis Carrol's Jabberwocky, and Emily Dickinsonian thingies with fixed meter and predictable resolutions. Freeform poetry is less easily classified into stiflingly narrow and inaccurate categories, but is nevertheless sometimes entertaining. Here, for your edification, amusement, delectation, ravishment, or Schadenfreude (as the mood suits), are some samples of each.
