04 August 2004 - Urologist Report

Good news on the urology front. Nicky's last UTI cleared up with the antibiotics he took right after getting to the States, and the urologist says the previous infections have not left any scarring or adhesions that would cause trouble down the road. There's no medical reason (right now) for him to be circumcised.

If Nicky continues to have UTIs frequently, we'll go back to the urologist, but for now he gets to keep all the parts he was born with. The urologist suspects that the frequent UTIs were caused by poor hygiene rather than a physical problem. This is not very far-fetched, since in the orphanage the kids were never taught how to clean their private areas, and no one knows how many days or weeks at a time he sat around in dirty diapers before he got to the orphanage.

Nicky understood what the visit was all about, and emphatically did NOT want to have any parts of him removed, so we were all relieved to find out nothing was needed at this time.

One less problem to worry about!
